الشاش الفازلين عبارة عن شاش دقيق المسام، ماص، مشبع بالفازلين، مصمم لتوفير بيئة رطبة للجروح وتعزيز عملية الشفاء. يمكن استخدامه كضماد أولي. أما الشاش البارافيني فيُستخدم لمنع التصاق الضماد الثانوي بالجرح، بينما يمتص الضماد الثانوي، كقطعة من الشاش، الإفرازات.

Vaseline gauze is a fine mesh, absorbent gauze impregnated with vaseline, designed to provide a moist environment for wounds and promote the healing process. It can be applied to the wound as a primary dressing. Paraffin gauze is used to prevent the secondary dressing from adhering to the wound site while a secondary dressing swab such as gauze absorbs exudates.
