يُستخدم اليود بتركيزات مرتفعة (مثل اليود المركز) في الخيول بشكل أساسي لتعقيم الجروح الجلدية السطحية، تجفيف وتقوية باطن الحافر وعلاج مرض القلاع (Thrush)، بالإضافة إلى استخدامه في بعض التركيبات لعلاج الخراجات والالتهابات.

Iodine in high concentrations (such as concentrated iodine) is used in horses mainly to disinfect superficial skin wounds, dry and strengthen the sole of the hoof and treat thrush, as well as being used in some formulations to treat abscesses and inflammations.
